The way I did it on my DS3P was to initially connect my drives to the GigaRAID controller right sorry didn't get the sifnificance of GigaRAID controller=Jmicron (common name for all 965 p35 etc).
Bit of a circuitous route but yep a clever way round not having afloppy.
