The Asus board itself has it's own problems but seems to have at least a fan base or sorts

Do you think this would be the right move? or would you recommend another board entirely (maybe the Gigabyte X38 board or a P35 board)
Or in your opinion should I just unbox the Abit and solder on

Many thanks

I am thinking exactly the same thing Ron. Mine still boxed (since 9th November) and also have to make a decision whether to try and return it for a Maximus Formula SE or keeping it.

My issue is not just the poor initial feedback from forums like this one but also the fact I can seem to find waterblocks that fit the board. I was just now looking at this MIPS collection of waterblocks on a ASUS Maximus Formula SE and wondering, have I really made the right choice with the ABIT IX38 Quad GT.

Like you say the Maximus does have a fan base with plenty of forum thread on overclocking the motherboard which is also benificial to a newbie like me.

Plus my case is totally see through and all the motherboard is visable with the motherboard laid flat so really need to find waterblocks that fit the ABIT IX38 Quad GT if I'm gonna keep it today
