To be honest, I use nearfield monitors for my main fronts in my home cinema. I'd use them for my rears as well if I could get away with it since I have a spare pair - the missus won't let me have full size speakers on the window shelf though, lol!
There's not a great deal of difference between decent flat response hi-fi speakers and studio nearfield monitors. After all, the idea of nearfields is that they give you an idea how the track will sound on a normal hi-fi system, so sometimes Hi-fi speakers are perfect for the job!
