Seriously though, have you ever tried it medium (or even rare)? I know a lot of people are put off by the blood, but I've not known one yet that went back to having it well done after we told them to shut their eyes and try it. Even my father in law who used to incinerate his steak now has it medium.
Never tried hot sauce though, spiciest thing I've had is probably a Chicken Madras from my local Indian takeaway - is it definitely worth trying, and if so what brand?
Personally I wouldn't have anything other than (pimento) pepper/pepper sauce or maybe mustard on a good steak, but if you want to try some good hot sauces have a look in the 'ethnic' section of your local supermarket if there is one. I recommend the little bottles of Jamaican Hot Pepper Sauce from Grace/Tropical Sun etc. (the sauce seems to be the same regardless of brand). I quite often swig it straight from the bottle- which gives me a flaming mouth and the hiccups, followed by an endorphin rush. Then I usually have another swig- it's absurdly addictive, but bad for my guts the following day if I overindulge. The sauce is great on tacos etc. even if you're not into mainlining it like me

Piri-Piri is also a good choice as previously recommended. My favourite sauce recently has been a bottle of Encona Cajun sauce (again from Tescos 'Ethnic' section). It's a combination of habaneros and mustard and it goes an absolute treat with sausages, and lots of other stuff
