windows nt uses the NTFS partition system, which cannot be accessed by MS-DOS without third-party software (DOS handles only FAT12, FAT16 & FAT32). if you get ahold of an MS-DOS boot floppy disk (such as a windows 98 disk), and some third party software, then you can get _READ_ access to the NTFS data on an NT4 machine. not sure if that's what you need, but that's the best you'll get without getting ahold of an NT Emergency Boot Disk & using the recovery system on that
