Going to the papers would certainly get some headlines, and based on the 'popularity' of the labour party it would add to the kicking that they rightly deserve.
Quite frankly that is one of the rudest responses ive ever seen from an M.P a public figure.
Go public, see what his reaction is then. Give your local paper a copy of your letter and your response and see what they make of it.
