they keep mucking around with what is & isn't considered a valid data stream over upnp. between updates, i've had my mythtv machine phase in & out of existence as far as the ps3 is concerned, each time affecting different types of files
edit: currently, my 2.41 ps3 is happy to play the lot - freeview recordings, mp3 audio, and random videos, all streamed from mythtv
