| I used a pair of Technics speakers I already had, and bought the cheapest active speakers PC World could offer (forget the speakers in em, it's the amp you need). Wired the Technics speakers to a 3.5mm jack, bypassed the headphone resistors in the cheapo amp, and plugged in. Tadaa, decent sound for not much £££. Maximum power is only a couple of Watts (probably the equivalent of 16W in cheapo HiFi terms) but audio quality is very decent indeed. (In the cheapo amplified speakers it's always the speaker unit that lets the device down, not the amplifier)
