TBH using an AWP on a populated public server does actually take a fair bit of skill, as if you don't kill with your first shot you are invariably dead, and it is good practice for a few clan members that do use the AWP in matches. Obviously if there's only 2 people on the server then an AWP is tedious and generally gay.
I don't like the way some servers have it set up so that the AWP is restricted to one per team, as although it seems a good idea, there are several flaws. One is that you cannot buy the weapon if somebody else has "bought" one at the start of that round, but you CAN buy one if the only awp in the team was bought in previous rounds. The other is that if you manage to pull off some heroics on your own in the last round and manage to survive, you could lose your weapon and not be compensated with any money, meaning you are actually punished for winning a round!
The way some other servers are setup, with restricting AWP's and Auto's for teams with a certain lead, is a very good idea IMO, as by the nature of the system the team restricted will have won several consecutive rounds so will have enough money to buy an alternative weapon.
Flashbangs cannot be permanently restricted IMO, though on the iceworld maps a total grenade ban would be a fantastic idea.
