Have to clear CMOS to get AB9 Pro to boot

I have to clear the CMOS every time I boot up. If I don't, it hangs at POST code 2A when trying to boot up from power off, or C1 if trying a restart.

When I do boot, I get the message "CMOS Checksum Error - defaults loaded"
I'll hit F1 to continue, after which everything goes fine.

    BIOS version 1.6
    E6600
    2x 1GB G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ
    Sapphire Radeon 9250 PCI
PSU is 430W which came with Coolermaster Centurion 534 case

I've already tried removing each of the sticks of ram and also seeing what happens if the video card is removed, but nothing changes.

It's normal on an abit to get the "CMOS Checksum Error" 1st boot after clearing CMOS.

There also appears to be some evidence on the abit-USA forum (currently down) that the PSU can be implicated in the 2A error.

Change bios. Fixed the problem for me. Had the same issue as you using the 1.5 (afaik) bios.

I had same problems with 1.6 as that was the latest bios when i had my AB9PRO i sent it back.

Updating to latest BIOS is supposed to fix it, i would give that a shot.

I am also unable to get my new AB9 Pro to POST. Abit's site (US & TW) is still down (been about a week now for Abit-US), so I can't download the latest bios. Abit tech support won't answer my e-mail. I'm quickly loosing my opportunity to RMA my MB/processor/RAM because I can't confirm it's working properly.

Does anyone know of Abit mirror sites where I can get the latest bios and flash utility? Can anyone confirm that Abit is still solvent and an actual business? Lack of a website presence promotes a fear that they are going under won't be there to support existing products.

I've flashed my bios to 1.6 and still get the Code 2A message, after clearing CMOS. What is the problem here? Having to clear the CMOS every time I boot is a drag. What did you do?

Think you have to save your BIOS setup

I had this when I updated my BIOS. I took the CMOS checksum warning as simply that (i.e. it had spotted that it had changed) and took the option of F1to continue. But if then failed at the next reboot with 2A and so I did a CMOS reset and found myself stuck in the loop you describe.

But in fact the message says hit "F1 to continue or DEL to enter BIOS setup". I entered setup, did an F10 to save, Y and exit. It will reboot and then all was normal from then on in. No checksum message.

    I fixed my boot problem.

I experienced "checksum errors" with an error code of 2A every time I booted. I then had to clear the CMOS in order to boot again. I no longer have the checksum error after manually setting my RAM timings within the bios. I got the clue from another post on this forum. Does this work for everyone?

My abit AB9 Pro works fine. I reset the CMOS as soon as I got the board out of the anti static bag, as this had been advised from a mate who has the same board. First power on, got a checsum error so I went into the BIOS and did a quit and save- This is because the motherboard has noticed that the CPU/RAM has changed. Once rebooting, I didn't get a 2A error.
