    X38 Quadgt Release Date

The X38 quad GT has been released and shipped into the country. I should have one by this time next week. This board I didnt have much influence on, so it would be interesting to find out how it fares.

My initial impressions will be posted the same week, and final review the week after.

In that case, I'm sure it will suck

totally confused, I thought that Abit had dropped the X38 in favour of the X48 to be released in Jan 2008. In other words there would be no X38 DDR2 board in the pipeline from Abit. I obviously thought wrong.

No theyve droped the IX38 max (the one with DDR3), as there saving the name for the X48 chipset.

The IX38 QUAD GT, is still being released just a tad late at the mo hopefully sometime this year if abit get it sorted.

given that the OP says that DDR2 IX38 QuadGTs are in the country already hopefully they'll be released sometime this year ...

    Re: X38 Quadgt Release Date

re: Abit IX38 QuadGT... just saw a pre-order price of £178 on one website (vat included), that puts it up against the Asus Max Formula SE (X38), I was hoping it would be cheaper. Bottom line is that at £178, I can't see many people going for this board over the Abit IP35 Pro. You'd be paying 50 quid more for the privilege of owning an X38 board with 2 x 16 lane PCIE-2 slots, and that's about it. I reserve judgment on the Digital PWM until I see some reviews and user comments from people who purchase the board. If the performance is no better than the IP35 Pro I can't see it selling in great numbers.

IX38 QuadGT was listed for preorder at Yoyotech at £147 with the IX38 MAX at £160 - except there is no longer going to be an IX38-MAX.
Will be interesting to see if the IX38 QuadGT DDR3 version is £147 too (I expect that the IX48-MAX will be dearer than the originally forecast IX38-MAX as the chipset is dearer).

IX38 quadGT listed at £164 at Aria & £160 at CCL

Will contact Abit today, to see where things stand, im all geared up for review, having just finished reviewing some graphics cards Incidently Ill be reviewing the 8800gt week after next..

It will be interesting to see how much a performance differnce there is over the ip35 pro! MYhonest opinion it would be around 2% at stock, it is the OVERCLOCKING performance that makes the differnce though.

Although I am no authority on BIOS settings
It would be nice to see what kind of bios settings there are with this board ?
I have the AWD9 Max and found the granular mem and volt settings were a little lacking compared to some other boards.

Clunk has got his mitts on an Abit iX38 QuadGT for another of his "living Reviews", it's early days but if his living review on the Maximus Formula SE
is anything to go by, which is currently approaching 60 pages, I expect a very thorough review on the Abit board, inital impressions look good.

Sticking with my IP35 Pro I think, I dont see a justifiable reason to sell it & buy this board - when penryn is available will see if its more worthwhile then.
