| strange beep on startup My IX38 has been doing something odd lately. I can start the computer in the morning and it starts up with a POST beep and boots up. If I leave it on for a few hours then shut it off then come back a few hours later to turn it on, I get a strange long tone as soon as I hit the power button. Only last less than a second but is longer than the normal POST beep, it beeps even before the fans start spinning. No codes flash on the mobo and it then boots up fine. I've checked the RAM and it comes out clean. Any ideas? |

| Re: strange beep on startup normally a long beep would be a RAM problem but it could also be the start of the hi low that you get on an uGuru mobo from a fan rpm, temp or voltage out of spec. - as you say it happens before the fans are going probably the fan warning. | Re: strange beep on startup if it is the Uguru then nothing to really worry about, right? I plan on running memtest this weekend to see if the RAM is truely bad. It passed before, but wouldn't hurt to look again. |

| Re: strange beep on startup if it's just a fan being a bit slow to spin up then it's not a problem really. you could check by disabling all the low fan rpm warnings & seeing if it goes away. | Re: strange beep on startup I get a long beep when starting up usually, and its before the fan spins up. It takes a lil time to kick in, but once it does the beep stops. This usually happens if the PC is cold or hasn't been on for a while. |
