    AX78 Problem

I have some problems with ABIT-AX78 mainboard that are listed below.

    * Revealing high temperature for CPU

*Always the light of NUMLOCK led on keyboard is on.

    * When the PC is off, the led of NET-CARD is off then. So, it could not be realizedthat for example which PC-system is plugged to the switch hub.

As shown in the fig below, full tasked CPU depicts 67 degree but in "GIGABYTE-M56 S-S3" mainboard, it is 56 degree

The idle state of GIGABYTE and ABIT mainboards are shown in the fig below, at this condition ABIT depicts 51 degree and GIGABYTE depicts 40 degree for the same CPU by the same Cooling fan system.

Another Problem is not turning off NUMLOCK LED light on keyboard show below

The other problem that I am dealing with by this mainboard if turning off the NET-CARD LED after reseting the PC from Windows O.S.. As I know, this problem does not exist with with any mainboards. In next figs, you can see there are 4 off-PC connected to the switch hub while three leds'light are on but mine that is on port No.4 is off.

I have also had such these problems with the other ABIT mainboar "KN9S". After I reported these problem to the Support division of ABIT Co. they offered me a newrer version of BIOS firmware that solved this problems on KN9S mainboard.

I would appreciate you and be so grateful if you refer my problems to the Support division of ABIT Co.

    1) BIOS version that you are running?

    2) assuming that you have Num lock On as your default then this is normal - the board maintains power to USB & PS/2 ports in soft off to allow for "wake on" events (older mobos had jumpers to chage this but not later ones).

    3) this is most probably a BIOS configuration setting

    Re: AX78 Problem

    1) there is a beta 14 BIOS that may well resolve your temp reading problem but if you are an overclocker it has other issues.
if you are happy that it's a CPU reading error you can disable the CPU temp warning & shutdown in the BIOS & use another utility to monitor CPU temp.

    2) you won't as it's not there - as I said they used to be able to be disabled by jumpers on older mobos but not more recent ones.
1 LED is hardly going to have an effect on your power bill & if it's the light from it that's bothering you just press the NumLock button.

    3) is this causing you a problem (i.e. are you trying to use wake on LAN)?
