    Abit IC7-MAX3 Dual-Boot BIOS settings

Back in 2004 (with acknowledgement and thanks to a "steveg47" posting on the Abit USA Forums) I managed to successfully configure & boot Win XP from my RAID 0 array via the Intel OnChip SATA.

Unfortunately, I don't have sufficient postings on this Hexus forum to qualify for a link showing the BIOS settings I used re. the above so I've added the data below.

The problem I have is what other BIOS changes do I now need to make to enable a dual-boot setup with Win XP on the RAID 0 array and Win 7 which I've just installed (for testing purposes prior to building a new rig) on a separate IDE/PATA HDD?

Any advise would be much appreciated and apologies if this issue has already been covered and I've missed it.

    Thanks

Re: Abit IC7-MAX3 Dual-Boot BIOS settings

you just to need to choose on boot priority which drive to boot from (either RAID or the IDE).
Some of the BIOS had a shortcut key to allow you to do this easily but I never ran an IC7 so I'm not sure if it does.

Re: Abit IC7-MAX3 Dual-Boot BIOS settings

Exactly... thats the easiest way to do it.
***remove this for win 7***1. Bootable Add-in Device
***and change this to the HDD with the OS you want to boot to instead of the RAID "On Chip"***- Bootable Add-In Device -> On Chip SATA RAID... other than that is if you have the PATA drive with win 7 on a PCI/Raid card and then i think you also need to change this
OnChip Serial ATA Mode -> RAID **to PCI CARD*** that option might be in the "-Master Drive PIO MODE -> Auto" but i don't have my board in front of me to check, but if you look around on the advanced bios page the options for "Bootable Add-in Device to PCI CARD" instead of On chip SATA or RAID SATA. hope that helps... just msg back if need more.
