    Abit AB9 Quad GT

Hi, I've had this board from new & have been very happy, I recently did a little updating for windows 10, I have changed from 4GB OCZ PC-6400 reaper's I bought 4x G.Skill F2-8500CLD-4GBPK, which when all 4 are put in the system wont boot to bios, if i only insert 3 of them I get 6GB reported & system boots, slower than it did previously.
Do I need to alter the dram settings from by SPD to specific ones? Any ideas why 3 will work but not 4?

I have been thinking of getting a quad core 2 extreme QX9650 which is the top processor the board will accept, will this solve the problem?

    Thanks
    Jamie

i had a similar issue with an abit board, have you tried increasing volts slightly? latest bios?

the cpu will not have any difference wether a board will post with 4 sticks imo.

in the end i gave up... nothing worked

    Re: Abit AB9 Quad GT

Hi, no not tried adjusting volts etc as not sure which values in bios relate to what... err i'm no noob, but not a great oc'er either! lol
I also have 4x G.Skill F2-6400CL5SQ-4GBNQ which I got in a bundle with the 8500's, & it boots with all 4 of those, but they are only 1Gb sticks so not what I was after, I'm guessing I have a duff stick in the 8500's?
In order to get them running at the 8500's running at full speed I need a processor that is divisable by the FSB to get 1066Mhz, or is that not possible on this old MB?
    Bios is ver 18 BTW
    Cheers

Edit: G.Skill will RMA the faulty F2-8500CLD-4GBPK, so thats one problem solved, any ideas on suitable processor upgrade?

Yeah the CPU isn't an issue it could be the Bios doesn't have the CPU microcode present in it. As the QX9650 came post board launch.
