New RAM, Graphics Card & Power Supply?

New RAM, Graphics Card & Power Supply?

Hello, first thread ever...All advice would be very much appreciated.

    This is my system:

    Model:HP d530 CMT(DG061A)

    CPU Type Intel Pentium 4A, 2666 MHz (5 x 533)
Motherboard Name Hewlett-Packard 085Ch with 4x AGP slot
    Motherboard Chipset Intel Springdale-G i865G
System Memory 1015 MB (DDR SDRAM)
    BIOS Type Compaq (08/10/04)

Video Adapter Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller (96 MB)
3D Accelerator Intel Extreme Graphics 2
    Monitor hp 1530 (CNP410B088)

    Partitions
    C: (NTFS) 38154 MB (9151 MB free)
    E: (NTFS) 76338 MB (22765 MB free)

    PU 240W

I thought of improving its performance by buying: - 4G RAM (checked via CrucialUKScan - there are 4 slots and 4G upgrade is possible),
    - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3650 512MB DDR2 AGP Graphics Card or Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 - 512MB AGP DDR3 DVI HDTV-Out Graphi, with adequate power supply, since the prices of graphic cards are gone right down...or am I too ambitious?

My dilemma is: if my processor and Motherboard can handle this Sapphire graphic card and how it will perform? if yes, which one (my heart is with DDR3) and what would be appropriate power supply? Any fear of potential bottle necks if installed?

    Thanks

What is your budget ? 4GB of RAM isn't cheap and your single core P4 will be a bottleneck for most stuff anyway. If you can afford it i would suggest getting a new rig in the form of an Athlon II X2, AM3 770 motherboard, 2GB RAM, and a decent 400W PSU.

It will benefit you a lot more in the long run.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

really thats quite an old system and depending on what you want to do with it, it may be better to move one to a new machine.

future mark orb may give an indication of performance if you can find a similar spec with the cards your interested in
