    Eyefinity Info Please?

    Background
I help out my local Vet with his IT. He purchased a very expensive x-ray machine last year which was running under XP but has now had to get a new PC with Win 7 64-bit. The company that sells the x-ray device has now released a Win7 version of the software but the software only appears on one of the two monitors. We downloaded Ultramon but we cannot get the software to span across the two monitors - we can get it on monitor 1 or monitor 2 but not both.

    Hardware
HP Desktop, 8Gb RAM, loads of HD space, GTX260, 2 x Samsung 1920x1200 LCD Monitors

    Question
Would buying an Eyefinity capable card to replace the GTX260 allow him to span the x-ray software across the two monitors or does Eyefinity depend on the software having support for spanning?

Although he is happy to buy a card and try it I don't really want him to spend his money if it is a lost cause.

Thanks for any info that you good folks can offer.

An Eyefinity card can power up to 3 monitors at once, in any format you wish, one screen over 3, duel screens over 2 and one single or 3 singles.

To be honest, you shouldn't need to replace that GTX260, all you have to do is go into the control panel for the card and make it display both monitors as one screen.

    Thanks.

We can get the desktop showing across both monitors fine (I used the extend option in the control panel), it's the application that won't stretch and there is no option in the control panel to force it. You cannot use nview in Win7, it won't install.

    Re: Eyefinity Info Please?

Does the application have native windows resize options or does it do a full screen overlay when running the application? (IE like a PC game does)

If it does the latter you need to get windows to run the application in a windowed mode, not 100% sure since I cant test it but I'm sure you can add a command like to a shortcut for the application to tell windows to do that.

If that works you can then hopefully resize the window manually, not sure if the application will stretch as well though.

    Anyway I hope that helps.

    Re: Eyefinity Info Please?

It doesn't seem to have resize options, it runs in full screen overlay mode. Will try the windowed trick to see what happens.
