Right, so....music & podcasts, what is the best way to manage these? I have iTunes & it looks like you used to be able to sync podcasts with it but not any more (?)

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I use meridian for music as it is one of the two players that handle FLAC.

There are many podcast apps. Google listen is the "official" one, but there are loads of others to try if you want more features. Beyondpod looks good (has a free lite version but costs $7 if you want the full version).

Just out of interest what do people listen to using podcasts? Is it just for people who are too lazy to read the news?

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

DoubleTwist is very good, sync's miusic, podcasts and video like iTunes (so I'm told). For Podcasts you just can't beat BeyondPod, it's awesome.

Along with scheduled updates, which will turn on WiFi for you and only download if it connects (unless you tell it to use 3G) the best bit is SmartPlay. You set a play order just one time, by either show or category and it will set a play list for you depending what podcasts you have downloaded at the time. It's very versatile.

Well doubletwist is a winner! only annoyance is having to make everything a playlist before it'll transfer it, syncing up now, just need a bigger memory card, 4GB is very limiting Any good deals on 16GB before I go checking out Play/etc?

I got a sandisk one on ebay for £15 inc postage. Genuine seller, everything was fine etc. Might be worth a look there first.

Be very careful on eBay, there is a way to cheat you. The PC says 16gig, but after 2 gig it starts writing over itself... you lose data. Myself, I will usually buy memory from a known seller like Amazon or Play these days, the price isn't that much different.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Indeed, lots and lots of fakes on Ebay that don't become apparent till later. At £15 for 16Gb I'd be checking it ASAP, just in case

    If it's fine - bargain!
    Unhelpful posts:
    • Replying with "This" to someone else's post
    • When a product has a known flaw that's posted about all over the web, posting "But mine works fine guys"
    • Asking a question that's been covered many times - use the forum search first

I think this is what you want to have a look at, to check flash memory -

As cool as it is to see a phone running quake 3... i just can't imagine myself playing a game like that on my handset for entertainment. The controls would be rubbish.
