Looking for new phone around the £250 range

I've come across a handful of phones around this range but trying to Google for decent reviews of most is almost impossible due to the sea of spam and rubbish that surrounds them.

I'm basically looking for the best spec'd phone around the £250 price point. I don't use my phone enough to really justify forking out £450 on an absolutely top of the range handset.

Some I've noticed so far are:

    LG Optimus L7 P700
    HTC Sensation
    HTC Desire S
    Samsung Galxay Ace 2
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
    Samsung I8150 Galaxy W
    HTC One V

But in terms of how these actually perform compared to each other, is something that I'm missing right now.

Haven't Galaxy S2's reached this price point yet?? If they have that would be my recommendation. Out of what you've posted stay away from the LG, crap support, rubbish software etc. I think my vote would go to the Sony Xperia

The Galaxy SII does look nice but it's still around £340 which is silly considering the SIII is out! Shame as it looks like a really nice phone.

Ebay is where I would look. 250 seems to be sweet spot on there.

Yeah, s2 would be where I would look as well.

Re: Looking for new phone around the £250 range

eBay is a waste of time for electronics. Half the time they cost as much as normal online stores or more. In this case they still seem to be £320+ on eBay which considering the lack of safety of eBay compared to online stores just isn't worth the minor difference in cost.

Not sure where you were seeing them for £250!

Re: Looking for new phone around the £250 range

Very bizzare collection of phones you've put together there, The only ones I'd even consider from that list are the HTC Sensation, Sony Arc S and HTC One V.

However I would echo the comments to consider a Samsung GS2 as they can be had quite cheaply now the SGS3 is out and about. Also around that price point (£280 ish) are the Motorola Atrix & Razr, both of which are good spec phones for the money, though the Atrix is getting on a bit now. I have one and it is still very nippy due to the Tegra 2 processor and a good spec, and the QHD 4" screen is about the right size for me.

Re: Looking for new phone around the £250 range

I literally listed all the phones around this price or that had been mentioned lots.

I wouldn't call £300 cheap for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and that's assuming I get a "possibly new" one from eBay, in shops they are still £350. Care to highlight these prices as people are quoting them as being a lot less than I can find them.

Re: Looking for new phone around the £250 range

Have a look on AVForums, nearly new S2's are going for between £200-250 and I've bought & sold on there loads of times and it's pretty safe. Well safer than Ebay I feel as long as you purchase from reputable members.

Again, where? I'm not seeing them for less than £280 on eBay. I'm looking for something that's upgradable to ICS (official or otherwise, I'm happy to root it).

Jim: I'll have a look there, thanks.

Re: Looking for new phone around the £250 range

Another vote for AVF it's the place to go, but with so many technophiles on there you have to be quick if you see what you want at the right price.

Stuff doesnt tend to hang around, esp if its a good price.

I've been on there 10+ years and have picked up loads of my phones on there, from people selling on practically new phones as they have changed their minds on or got a free upgrade they no longer want.

If you can get it for the price you want then the ONLY phone worthy of your cash is the Samsun Galaxy Note. Without a doubt the Best Tech around. It's official*
