    Nexus 4, upgrade to 5.0?

There have been some issues with android lollipop on the nexus 5, is that something that is currently effecting the nexus 4, or is it smooth sailing?

It was released under 48 hours ago....any issues are unlikely to be known at this stage.

Try it and let us know how you get on

I'm more than willing to try it, so long as its not suffering any major known issues, as the Nexus 5 ROM is. I'll be leaving it until at least tomorrow night, then I'll let you know how I get on.

Re: Nexus 4, upgrade to 5.0?

What issues? Most people on XDA who have done proper clean installs don't have any major problems.

Running lollipop on my N5 without issue. Some app developers need to update their apps for the updated art runtime, but that's not the ROMs fault.

Most people with problems have dirty flashed the ROM from custom recovery "because it takes to long to reset up their phone....." Which leaves odd battery hogging wakelocks & WiFi issues.

The best advice is to clean install with fastboot in boot loader. And if you find an app that is misbehaving tell the app dev.
Been running L since the dev preview without major issues.

At the end on the day these are nexus phones and it is easy to flash back to any ROM you want.

I did just as aramil said above - a clean install via fastboot using NRT, which is probably the simplest piece of software to use to do all this.

No issues at all for me since late last week. There are some articles out there talking about issues but I've not read from anyone who has actually experienced them yet. I'd say go ahead and use NRT to do a clean install and enjoy

I've had no issues this far, the only one thing that is bugging me... Is... That I can't put my phone on silent (no vibration), you can do it, but it's a little complex! But I haven't seen any major issues, battery life has looked to be OK and WiFi has been spot on!

I always wait a few weeks before trying the new version. Just in case there is a major issue / vulnerability found shortly after release. Seems to happen to Apple every time.

Re: Nexus 4, upgrade to 5.0?

OK guys, over 24 hours with the update installed and apart from a couple of broken apps which was expected and the same annoyance as DannyM had with the volume control there are no real issues to report. I essentially solved the issue with the silent mode by installing Llama (which I always use anyway) and letting it auto adjust volume like normal. It seems to have a better battery life than 4.4, and some small bugs that used to appear in 4.4 with the WiFi when using PEAP/MSCHAMP v2 are happily gone. I'm not a fan of all email being handled by the Gmail app now, but I'll get used to it. Might be time to find a better email client. Anyone has any questions I'll do my best.
