    SopranoRS 101 Front Panel Audio

    Hey all,
New to this forum. I just finished transferring the guts of my old computer to a SopranoRS 101 Black Widow. Everything works except the headphone jack on the front panel audio connector. If I leave it about a quarter inch out, I get sound put if I put all the way in, the sound cuts out. Do I need a new front panel or is there a fix?
    TIA!

    Hi There,

It looks like you have a faulty wiring for your audio ports. What cable is plugged in your mobo? Is it the AC-97 or the HD-Audio?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. It is the AC97 cable. I am using an ASUS Xonar card and it worked fine in the old Dell case using their front panel wiring. (I am assuming the AC97 has the 8-pin -or so- header, right? I'm not a sound card expert)

Try using the HD Audio instead and see if you get the same results. Keep me posted.

    Thanks

OK, so I just change the output in the driver to HD, right?
The computer is at my son's dorm right now but I'll be there Thursday and try it.

Basically, just swap out the cable that's connected on the Audio on your motherboard, use the HD Audio cable on the case.

    Thanks

OK, was away for the holiday weekend. I'll have my son give it a go.[

Re: SopranoRS 101 Front Panel Audio

    Oh Sorry!!!
I went last weekend and didn't see an HD audio cable, just the cable I used. My son just said to forget about it, he'll just plug directly into the sound card. I'm thinking it is just a bad headphone jack. Thanks for your help.

Any updates on this? Thanks [/QUOTE]
