Guess they'll have to buy the 4GS with improved signal quality.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: iphone 4 signal problems?

This is a real shame, i went for something else this time round but was hoping they would improve the phone part not break it even further, without signal it don't matter what tech it has or how pretty it looks

I was torn between this & the Desire (as I've probably posted in 10 different threads about) This + the yellow screen has made my mind up for me!

    Re: iphone 4 signal problems?

I have this issue..and yes it is frustrating that there is an easy way to reproduce the problem, but honestly, it doesn't affect using the phone in any way shape or form unless you intentionally hold it covering that gap. I was on the phone for over an hour last night on this device, and then was browsing the web over 3g after, and had zero issues with dropped calls, dropped data etc. It's not as bad as the whiners on mac rumours et al are saying (they just can't accept that something from apple isn't perfect lol).

I hope that Apple do the decent thing and admit that it is a real issue though, and go someway to fixing or at least mitigating it. This does happen on other phones (there were big complaints about the Nexus One doing it too), but it's just more pronounced on the iPhone 4 because of the media coverage this device gets.

Yellow screens are fixing themselves, apparently due to Foxconn rushing them out too quickly and not letting the glue dry!

Still a great phone, I just hope that we can get this signal "issue" resolved without having to buy a bumper case

I would probably say the only real fix would to go back to the drawing board and re-design the antenna band. Try putting you hand on a portable tv ariel if they still exist and see if it effects the TV signal. Tests have also shown the bumpers effect the download speed to and the only sure way to get full benefit/speed is to leave the phone un aided on the desk to download.

    Re: iphone 4 signal problems?

Bloke at work got his today, no signal issues when holding it (or yellow screen so far as I can see)

The screens really is beautiful, viewing angle is pretty amazing.
OS is really zippy (compared to my 3G, I imagine it's less if you are going from a 3GS)

Think I've decided not to go for one, the possible issues are a biggy but when I had it in my hand I was stuck for what to do to check out the new features, this shows I'm used to/bored of the OS so I'm going Android for a little change.

I thought the bumper had been shown to not affect download speed? The only real comments I've seen are from the first guy on Engadget to run Speedtest in various configs but I don't recall if he tried it with a bumper?

Update 4: Reader Chris Sheehan did a speed test with the phone sitting down, with his hands on the phone, and one with his hands on but with a leather case on it. They're in order, and the one with his hands on the bare phone is really bad times.

    one of them

    Some interesting comments on here

Engadget did as versus with the Samsung SuperAMOLED and it found that viewing angles were pretty much the same. And other interesting stuff too.

This signal dropping thing doesn't seem to be affecting everyone, I posted in another thread someone at SCAN had this issue but it seemed to resolve itself, his WiFi doesn't work, but that's another issue...

The Galaxy S is about the same price though, I'd prefer the iPhone all other things being equal

Apple have released some guidance for holding the phone Or apparently you can by some rubber band thing to cover the antenna

Hope it gets replaced or fixed but then it seems to be a flawed design.

Hahaha....the iPhone doesn't fit to you but you must fit to the iPhone. hahaha

It's so obvious its a flaw and rather than recalling the damn thing, Apple wants you to not hold your phone in the normal way haha - this is just too funny.

    Re: iphone 4 signal problems?

I can honestly say that I've had no issues with screen / wifi / signal!

I've tested the signal and mines seems to be ok - got mine through tesco yesterday. The deal was sooo good I couldnt see myself going to anyone else!

And a lad in the office does have the issue - but hes used my slim fit case and the issue doesnt happen anymore. A decentish case will resolve the issue with the signal. I went and bought the new Griffin Reveal.

Obviously it is the case that all of the people at Apple that tested the product are right handed
