    SiliconImage SiI3132

    Hi guys,
I have been using the SiliconImage SiI3132 sata2 controller (expressport) with an akasa integral and a western digital scopio black 2.5" hard drive on my macbook pro for a while now. It has always had issues with connecting and disconnecting and causing crashes but it worked in some form or another. Sice the last update for leopard (10.5.7) however i havent managed to get it to recognise the drive being plugged into it.

Unfortunately the Scorpio black has failed on me and im gunn have to send it back to scan for an RMA but i have another new one on the way so i can get things done in the meantime. Il report back then if it starts to work again.

I was wondering if anyone else has had any issues using this controller chipset on OSX and if they had managed to find any workarounds to get it going?

I googled it and found a few threads where people have had issues a while back but cant seem to find the useful ones anymore

according to silicon image you need to contact the manufacturer of the drive/enclosure. just to be sure are you using the latest drivers?

Yeah they said that to avoid having to deal with people them self... its a total lie. Iv kind of given up trying to get it to work atm think im just gunna buy a FW800 enclosure but they are quite rare for 2.5" drives
