Are you liking the keyboard on the MBP? I mean I hate the MB keyboard, but I tried out a MBP whilst I was in the Apple store last wee & I thought the keyboard was absolutely dreadful!

The mbp has one of the better laptop keyboards if you ask me.

    I love mine.

    Hate the macbook one tho.

Gordy - have you tried the C2D MBP? Just wondered if you had some insight into the performance differences. I see the Core Duo MBP's on Apple refurb site for £900 at moment. May consider one instead of a MacBook to replace my iBook.

I went with the Daddy of Mac's and picked up a Macpro in Oct 2006! It's a brilliant machine and does everything i could wish for! I've recently got into editing movies so i'm going to upgrade to 4gb ram and i've just added a 3rd hard drive (320gb)

I've also got a Powerbook G4 17", that'll need upgrading at some point soon but for now it does the job.

Can't wait until 10.5 and iLife comes out! I always thought it was sad "Mac People" trying to tell me how bad Windows was, but now i can fully understand where they were coming from. OSX is just brilliant!

    Coolermaster Nvidia 690, i7 3.8gz, Noctua U12P, Asus P6T V2, 3gb Corsiar DDR3, BFG 275 GTX OCX, 320gb WD
Macbook Pro 2.5ghz Penryn, 4gb Ram, 250gb HD, 512mb 8600GT, Super Drive, Mac OSX 10.5, Windows XP, Bluetooth Apple Keyboard + Mighty Mouse

Hi just a quick question for the mac users

If two systems have identical specs, one using windows (let's say xp for this one) and osx

will an application such as photoshop run differently?

because I know before Macs were reknowned for being much more stable than windows therefore the favoured platform for ps when you need to open loads of images, but recently someone said its identical now..

    thanks

OS x is said to be more stable that windows, but in reality they aren't too different. I use photoshop on mac and pc and as long as the mac one is running cs3 it will run at almost identical speeds in both operating systems.

The big advantage of the mac is you can have the best of both worlds

I use both day in day out and either is a good choice.

I've got a few new toys and complete rejigged my setup and office space so it was time to post a few new pictures:

    From left to right :

Macbook Pro Core Duo 2.0ghz with 2gb of ram

Mac mini 1.83ghz with 1gb of ram on top of a belkin kvm

    Mini-Itx core duo 2.0ghz pc with 2gb of dd2 and a x800 gto2 graphics card

External Hard drive hooked up to the mini with two 500gb drives in for storage and backups

Dell 2407fpw , which I've just picked up its superb! So big and bright

    Xbox 360 premium

LG lcd tv for the xbox and freeview tv

I've also just made a new chair for my office, its orginally a Cobra Clubman Car chair which I've modded to make it into an office chair.

Its very comfy and looks great!

More pics of it here : http://gordyhand.co.uk/gallery/v/cas.../others/chari/

Man that setup looks nice. The only bit that doesn't quite fit would be the X800GTO graphics card I suppose.
Is that LG a LCDTV or just a TV? If it is a LCDTV could you tell me which one?

The x800 gto2 was the most powerful card that would fit in the pc at the time as its very small in length as well as being a single slot card. It plays all the games I play fine so I've never seen the need to upgrade.

Its an LCD TV , its a 17in widescreen number, not sure what model without pulling the whole thing out.

Re: What Mac have you got?

    Desktops:
    17" iMac G4 1.25ghz 512mb
    17" eMac G4 700mhz 512MB
Plus my gaming pc, which changes spec almost as often as I change clothes

    Laptops
    G3 Powerbook (pismo) 550mhz G4 upgrade 1gb ram 80gb 5200rpm hdd
and a couple of older iBooks 1 key lime clamshell and one old faulty icebook(400mhz G3?).

I am soon to be the owner of a lovely new(ish*) iMac whilst I don't perticularly like the design of the new one, or the white one that preceded it(I think the G4 iMac is the best looking mac ever), I do want the power only the intel macs can give me, heck I may even save up and get a macbook pro and retire my old pismo

*depends on how much money I can save on ebay, if not they do look attractive new at £800 for the 20"

Re: What Mac have you got?

17" iMac intel Core Duo 1.88ghz 1.5 gb
    12" Sony Vaio G-118 1.33ghz 1.5 gb running OSX-86 10.4.8

I would love it if apple released a cheap, customizable desktop....or an ultraportable lighter than 3 pounds...
