Any must-have apps?

So after a decade and a half of resisting and poking fun at you all I've finally cracked and just splooged on a MBP Retina. I've already picked up a license for VMware Fusion but as a newcomer to the world of Mac use can you recommend any "must have" apps?

Firefox - I hate Firefox with a passion, but it is the only browser that will allow me to do everything I want to do in regards to plug-ins, of which I use a ton, so it is my primary browser still.

Google Chrome

Web version of Word for Chrome (never tried this one a Mac, it might not actually work)

Web version of Excel for Chrome (again, never tried this one a Mac)

I use a 2013 MacBook Air for software development.

If you're in a similar tech line of work then you might like to replace the terminal with iTerm2.

And then install homebrew for some easy access to lots of open source stuff.

Lots of other open source is available for OSX - Gimp, Open Office etc

Also Sublime Text 2 as a text editor, or Emacs for OSX if you're so inclined.

And don't forget the Stream client to waste your time and money

Terminal was a major worry, so I'll check out iTerm2. Already got Steam installed, Football Manager on the shiny screen is lovely

I'll check out Sublime too, seems that there's a lot of love for that out there.

GPG Suite for encryption, although if you are using Yosemite their mail add-on is not out of beta yet and it is not free either. Older version used to be but the amount of support they offer if fantastic and deserves financial support.

Also KeePassX as a password manager. Perhaps tied in with MiniKeePass on an iOS device.

Also Keka for zipping files.

Caffeine to stop the Mac going to sleep mode if performing a backup or other task.
