AIW 800XL - Recording DVB ???

Have the above card in a newly setup DFI Lan party NF4 Mobo. 1 Gig of ram. Signal strength is 100%... and watching DVB is great! I have the very latest drivers and software. TV is version 9.13

Works fine when watching TV, but the main purpose of buying it was to record Digital TV.

I hit the record button and it creates a large *.mpg file (its set to DVD High). Most of the time, NO video is recorded only audio. It's very frustrating as I do no know what has happened until after the recording is finished!!!!!

I sometimes get a message saying something like "TV on demand is not compatible with this setup and video will not be recorded" I cannot see how to tuen TV on demand off!!

Records fine with analogue.... but i need digital!!

Anyone help please....

Maybe your disk can`t run fast enough to handle that amount of video being thrown at it and sooner than drop most of the frames, it just isn`t writing the video?
Try turning the quality down and/or use a more compressed format. Video on demand seems to have changed in the latest version of the MMC and it seems to be activated by deafault as I notice I have around half an hour showing up on my slider when I`m watching tv.
Maybe reset the values in the preset where all the quality/videosoap etc is (where you set up what quality you want to record to) and also try it on scheduled instead of on demand, also with a lower setting.

I`ve gone back to the previous MMC cos the digital video seems to degrade after the first use.
Maybe try the previous one cos I certainly get a better recording.

Did not like the original software. Also had the same problem with that, that's why I installed the update.

Thanks for the info though.

Seems to be working OK now... only problem is when editing and re-coding to DivX .. Sync is lost in a non predictable way .. It' can be OK for the first few minutes then drifts out as the programme continues. Getting a wee bit frustrated, as I purchased a new mobo to run this card specifivally to record and convert TV to DivX.

The built in mpeg4 is not very good quality.

Seem to remember something about a divx and video recode prog that had a fix for losing synch.
Mebbe look on one of the DVD prog sites for the software and fixes to download?
Sorry, can`t remember the link I used but I think I googled it.
