Connector problem?
Hey folks.
I have had a lot of problems with my card. ATI AIW X1800XL Before I had no idea what it depended on, but the error came when I started or restarted the computer. Before anything it started to beep and give me a red message saying something about the powersupply-cable wasnt connected. It was connected and if I shut the comp off, waited a bit and started again it sometimes started without problems after maybe 20 attempts. Now I know that the problem really is the power-connector. Becuase a red little LED just next to the connector on the card's underside, is glowing red when I get this error. If I disconnects it and connects it again, the computer often starts without problem and the LED is not glowing. BUT, sometimes when Im inside windows and open up the computer, LED is glowing Red. About 5 times out of 10 before when I didnt touch the connector, but still was able to start up Windows, the problem was that the drivers had dissapeared. And of course the red LED was glowing, but I dont know why I didnt get the message and was able to start those times. Anyways how could a powerproblem like this cause the card's drivers to disapear? Well they didnt dissapear but they didnt load with windows. Im thinking about wich part I shall send back to where I bought it, Connector from the power supply (I guess the complete PSU) or the ATI-card. Could be interesting to see what you guys say about this problem, and if anyone encountered the same error. I have a pic of the glowing led but cant add links or images as this is my first post here. Thanks. /Pipan |
