dual x850XTPE and driver issues

Im trying to run two x850xtpe cards in the same system where I need two seperate graphics programs open at the same time.

Im running win2k. DFI nf4 ultra D motherboard (two pci-e slots, running in 16x/2x. I can get 8x/8x with jumpers but dont think that would be needed...?

I do not need a crossfire master card since the outputs will be to seperate monitors.. I dont need the performance increase from crossfire..

Now in old graphics cards (and im fairly sure any nvidia cards will work also), you could always have two pci cards, or an agp + pci without any problems. Used to be a common way to get a second monitor output where most cards only had one.

Ive tryed 6.2 and 6.4 drivers and neither will detect the second card (note that 6.3 are old drivers, from when win2k and xp were in the same package. ATI seems to have re-released the drivers with 6.2 being newest and xp/2k in seperate packages, which makes sense since win2k is discontinued by microsoft.)

However with the 7.3 drivers (XP-only according to ati site) install fine on 2k, and detect both cards. There is no problems, no warnings or anything, untill trying to run a 3d program it will error then quit - however I do have both cards detected and working.

Is there any driver version that will fix this?

Also WDM rage theater driver does not work with two cards, did not try this on 7.3 though.

hse180's system
Most ppl swear by the 6.9 drivers. I have the same mobo and ppl say it would not accept CF as it is SLI. I may be wrong.
