installed card with 7.6,7.7,7.8 drivers from ati and from card manufacturer installed and uninstalled powerdvd/drivers/pure video more times than i care to remember and every time HD either blu ray or HD DVD plays for about 10 seconds corrupted and then either power dvd crashes or i get BSOD ![]() my latest was to update MB bios still the same so can anyone help? i saw the bad BIOS headline is it possible i've got one of these cards? |

Re: HD2600pro help :(
As far as I know BIOS issue was only in 2400 cards and those were provided to Acer - OEM market.
Perhaps you can give us some ideas providing your system specs and error messages displayed in Event Viewer and BSOD screen |

Re: HD2600pro help :(
you installed purevideo ? Is that not for nvidia cards ? I thought ATI used Avivo HD for HD decoding which is included in the Catalyst drivers ?

Re: HD2600pro help :(
thanks for the replys
![]() pure video can work with ati cards but i tried with and without no luck the main hardware issue talked about would be with power so i have a blue storm 500 which should be fine since post i've tried another pc as install was on asrock 775dual that has a x4 pci express slot which i thought could be an issue but tried on kn8 sli MB and result was exactly the same it would be good news if bios was only on 2400 as rma's a pain and i like this cards design so far it seems its just UVD that isn't working gonna try 7.8 official drivers rather than beta at w/e cards in the box at mo but i'll try screen capture |

Re: HD2600pro help :(
I think UVD is broken on both 2600 and 2400 on some cards http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...=2501&Itemid=1

Re: HD2600pro help :(
well in case anyone is still watching
i rma'd this at the mo supplier has said that the card plays fine with a downloaded hd dvd file but has no discs i've had to send discs so they can play them if the above is true it would point at a HDCP problem but we'll see..... am i right in thinking i saw a post about ati selling cards without HDCP?? |

Re: HD2600pro help :(
I would have tried the card in a fresh windows install before rmaing.
Did you use any sort of driver cleaner software to get rid of the nvidia drivers from the 7600GS? |
