Sapphire x1950 PRO
Hey guys new to the forums, hoping someone could help.
I just bought an AGP Sapphire x1950 PRO but when i connect it to my pc (and the other, newer pc i have in my house) and then start up the pc, everything works aside from the screen stays on standby mode. Even the fan is spinning on the graphics card but it just wont work on screen. I have put both power leads into the card and double checked that my computer can handle it
I have all those things 1024 ram and have 450w PSU. As i say i've also tried this on my other computer and i get the same results, when i plug both previous cards back in the screen works fine. Its doubtfull the card is faulty as i sent the last one back and got this card again and same results are happening. any help would be greatly appreciated cheers! |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
Just checking my PSU it says its 20a on 12v rail and then double checking the card requirements is 30a on 12v rail, so this could be the problem anyone think?
Does anyone know the best place to get PSU's in the uk? thanks again guys |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
30A for this card ?
I think you saw the crossfire requirements mate. It's too much for a single card. I remember I had Opty 165@2.8GHz with 2GB ram and X1900GT@stock and OCZ 470W (33A@12V) could take two raptors and regular HDD and still remained silent and cool. |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
Found some requirements on HIS website - 30A@12V...BUT...this is valid for all X1900/X1950 family. This website indicates 66W power consumption of X1950Pro which imo is reasonable considering tests from xbitlabs
Also if there's not enough power system usually shows instability only in 3D mode or does not start at all - even the fans don't have enough power to start spinning. imho issue is not the PSU |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
the box says crossfire mode needs 38 amps on a 12volt rail, os i think 30a is accurate.
The fans do work but as i say nothing shows up on the screen at all. My other computer has a 450w PSU as well and the same thing happens as well, nothing comes up on screen but the fans work etc, and that pc has a different ram cpu and mobo. |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
Just bought novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?TT-W0103 which i was told would be more than enough to run it and i still get the same results :<. Will try to sell back my card to the company, ruddy annoying though! Geforce all the wayi guess.

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
I would have thought that the power supply would be ok. I have just bought a sapphire x1950pro 512mb agp card and am only currently running it with 400w power supply. The bois screen is a funny colour when starting up, guess it's because everything starts up at the same time, HD's, DVD drives, etc. But it then runs fines after.

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
Just wanted to say that I had the exact same problem, was using a PC World 500w PSU and swapped it out for a 520W Corsair PSU and my HIS AGP X1950 Pro sprang in to life!

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
Ok, I bought the same card and had the same issues...
The card needs to have at least 30A on the 12v rail... The 12v rail is for the HDD's,DVDRW, CPU & GFX cards and with all of this you need to have that 30A to run the power hungry core fo the X1900 series and above cards. Also worth noting is that you'll need 34A on a multirail unit. |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
Which output are your using on the card i'm guessing thers 2 to choose from, its quite possoble if its an old montor that it does not like that connection or a converter your using or the card is outputting a refresh signal the monitor does not wake up to.
Must tell my dell 325W supply to stop working so well with my 1950pro |

Re: Sapphire x1950 PRO
i was using cooler master 550 watt psu , 14 amp both 12v1 and 12v2 with msi x1950 pro 256 mb and it was working very fine on 12v2 rail,
even before that i was using this card with ibest 400 w psu, 11 amp on 12v rail, and the card was working with some problem while gaming, now i have updated to corsair 620 watt, and the card is working on 12v2 which support 18 amp., i don't think that this card req. 30 amp on 12v rail, as my experience told me,.. |
