Radeon 8500 (yeah its old)

Bought a Radeon 8500 quite a while back (when they were around £215!!) and i realised this bug in that if i turned on my machine with the tv-out cable plugged into my pc it would post.. but wouldnt load windows (would just hang)..

Seen two other people with the same card not experience this problem.. never really bothered me as i could just unplug and switch to the tv from within windows.. but just wondered if anyone else has had this problem or know of any firmwares that could fix this (im not asking for locations to this if that is against board rules btw!)

does it really hang? or does it just throw the display onto the TV?

it displays the bootup screen on the tv... then hangs... when it tries to load windows... i couldnt see it being a driver issue because it wouldnt need to load the driver until windows started right?

Can you start in safe mode? it will throw a big list of stuff its loading, if it hangs at a specific one then that might be the problem.

I`ve still got 3 of these working and they`re great for TV.
You need to go into safe mode and set the screen output to the TV then reboot.
You`ll find it won`t do more than 50Hz interlaced and some Windoze setups won`t boot to that.
