Theatre 550 filters and noise reduction ?

Hi all,

I was recommended to this forum by someone who has been trying to help me. I have the u.k. version of the theatre pro - sapphire theatrix and the filters and noise reduction appear to be disabled / not working ?

I have tried updating drivers and using just about every piece of software available on this planet but cannot seem to get a response from any of the filters. I have tried composite, svhs, antennae and catv signals and although all the filters features are accessible they dont appear to be making any difference to the video / tv signal at all.

I have posted this question on every forum and sent support tickets to ati and sapphire and still no answer, so im asking here in case someone knows.

Question - are the filters enabled and usable on the u.k. version ? And if so do they work on all video input or just the tuner ?

And yes I am also a customer who really wants an official ati mmc for this product !

Any help would be great.

As far as I know, the only difference between your card and what I use, would be the regional setting.

Yours works with PAL sources and mine works with NTSC.

The thing that is most bothersome is that no software really lets you fine tune, enable/disable anything.

So everything the card has in it that makes it so great is enabled at a default setting.

Weather or not certain filters are turned on with the card or not I'm assuming would be default in the driver.

My card doesnt work at all (check my post "wierdest problem ever") right now so I can't comment much more.

I haven’t tried downloading it because I use MCE 2K5 and don’t really need it. I can wait for an official download of MMC 9.1x anyway.

Thanks for the info but ive learned today that none of the new mmc versions support changing the filters on the theatre pro chip. At least I dont have to sit here praying for an official mmc 9.10 or 9.12 anymore because I now know they will not solve my problem.

I still dont have an *official* answer to my question but it does appear that the filters on my card are non adjustable and non changeable, I just hope someone tells me that I have a faulty card or im doing something very wrong ? Without the filters this card is no better than the equipment I already have.

I see, well I suspect that most of these features are driver dependent rather then application specific.

I also suspect that enough users have voiced their desire to control the special features of the T550P and that ATI will eventually address their request…. albeit lethargically.

It’s also unclear what features will make it into upcoming versions of MMC.

I only use my T550P cards in MCE 2K5 so I don’t expect much from them.

I do know that Pinnacle Studio 9.0 and 10.0 have a sharpness control that should work with the T550P + latest drivers. I haven’t tested it yet since I have little need of it.
