| Hi all. I have the following problem with my MCE 2005 PC: I recently upgraded it with a new motherboard and processor, and in the process did a complete reinstall. Now my Theatrix 550 Pro card has stopped working. In "Device manager" the "ATI unified AVStream driver" has an exclamation point next to it, and under "Device status" I either get an "code 10" or an "code 12". In the detail tab, the only information I got is that it's not working properly. My hardware: Motherboard: Epox 8KDA3+ Graphic card: Gainward GeForce 6600 TV-card: Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro I have tried the following: 1. Upgraded the motherboard BIOS to the latest version. 2. Installed the latest driver for the TV-card. 3. Reinstalled MCE 2005 and inserted the tv-card in a different PCI slot(s), to update the ESCD 4. Downloaded and installed all fixes and Rollup 2 for MCE 2005. 5. Disabled unused features (RAID-controller and com-ports) of my motherboard to free up system resources. The TV-card is not defective as I have tested it in an other PC where it worked flawlessly. I would appriciate any pointers to what could be wrong. Edit: Fixed a typo.. | I'm not saying this will definately solve your problem, but tese could be hints: Is there an IRQ assigned to the PCI slot Theater populates? I saw this effect when I installed one WDM over an existing one. What helps is to open the device manager, right click the AVstream component and deinstall it. Reboot your system, cancel installation routines and install the newer driver. Boot again and it should run. Cheers, Mike - Product Marketing Manager ATi Multimedia |

OK, sounds odd. Another thing is a missing sound driver. Especially with Azalia HD sound where you need the Intel HD Audio update this can happen. The AVstream driver cannot initialize without audio running properly. Checked that? Cheers, Mike - Product Marketing Manager ATi Multimedia

The last couple of times I reinstalled, I haven't bothered with the soundcard-driver. However, I am going to try to do a complete install now, and only insert the TV-card after all the other drivers and fixes have been installed. Thank you for the tip, I'll post the result in an hour or two.

Nope, did not work. Reinstalled the PC, including latest fixes and an updated soundcard driver, and inserted the TV-card last. Still "Code 10", this device could not be started. Are there any other pre-requesites? Last edited by ztorkthrower; 19-01-2006 at 10:20 PM..

Very strange. I hope you find a solution. My issue has been driving me nuts for over a month, and I've pretty much given up. I miss TV and I miss the nice tuner. I know a guy who works at ATI, cept he doesnt know **** about hardware, he's a "Software Configuration Management Release Engineer" Some internal thing I guess, so he's no help to me. I do however invite everyone to check my post and BEG anyone to give me ideas. I'm willing to try everything.

Status: Hardware incompatibility? Hi, After re-confirming that the TV-card is not defective (by testing it in a different machine), I have given up trying to get it to work in my EPOX 8KDA3+ based MCE 2005 PC. ![]() Yesterday I bought an Hauppage MCE150 TV-tuner card and it worked right out of the box (well nearly, I had to install it into my PC and download the latest driver). The picture quality is slighly worse, but I guess life is to short to fiddle with hardware incompatibilities. Cooper42020: Hope you get your setup to work, or have the possiblity of exchanging it to another TV-tuner..

Thanks! Glad you at least got the issue resolved, even though you had to ditch the card for another. I'm lucky enough to run my own computer store, which means I should be able to resolve my issue, but it's the wierdest anomoly ever! My big problem is that this card was so awesome, I'm scared to try another product. Will I have the same issue, will the quality be on par? I'd use a Hauppage card, but none of my 7 suppliers carry them, 4 of which have warehouses across Canada and the US! We shall see how things go
