| Bill T,… In case you missed the other times I asked , I’ll ask again: If it is at all possible would you please test or otherwise verify the compatibility of a Theater 650 with respect to the HDTV Wonder in MCE 2K5? In other words, will these two ATI card work properly in the same system? This question is similar to the one fdisker asked about with respect to two Theater 650 cards in the same system and I am asking for the same reasons. Would you also please be so kind as to comment on “Catalyst Media Center’s” relation to Cyberlink PowerCinema 4 + Make DVD 2.0 +,….specifically to the effect of these two programs essentially being one and the same!?! And finally, have you any updates on the erroneous error message and consequential behavior you outlined for us with the Theater 650 in MCE? Thank you in advance,.. Oct. ArsenalSam,…. Great to see you have found satisfaction with the Dvico FusionHDTV 5 USB Gold!!! What application are you using with it? | Been testing my new(4th) T650 for about a week now, heres my latest findings, The 650s comb filter, and picture quality are excellent, analog cable included, CMC is without a doubt, Cyberlinks Powercinema 4 +. My only complaints at this point are with CMC, Im using dual displays, and CMC insists on starting on the secondary display, It needs to overlay on the primary but even still when on the primary I have major studdering issues. ATI told me dual displays is "unsupported". So I tried Beyond TV 4 demo and I got to hand it to them, Its interface and performance were perfect !! Proving the 650 hardware works Flawlessly. I have opened several tickets with ATI support and made them aware of CMC problems and asked them again as I did with the 550. Why would ATI put there best hardware products at the demise of a third party app. I asked again for 650 support with MMC, but was told not happening "officially". I asked to have the ticket sent to senior managemant for the sake of ATI, its die hard fans and its Investors. So I tried to get the 650 and MMC working and I'm impressed. After a fresh install of all of MMC 915. The 650 works fine with the cable tuner, the problem I do haveis with setup scanning ATSC channels. They do tune in but are not recognized as valid channels and do not get saved. I can add them manually but I get no audio and MMC "encounters a problem and needs to close". At least the cable tuner is working. Will have to try Beyond TV for a while, maybe I should give up on MMC. Last edited by AIW_VID_FAN; 14-10-2006 at 04:24 PM.. |

@Bill T Is there anyway to hook up the theater 650 to a sound card (like the creative x-fi)? I see output pins on the theater 650, but there are 8 of them and I don't know what they are for... Thanks

I recently purchased the TV Wonder 650 and have been having an unusual problem with the Catalyst Media Center software. Every time I start up Windows, CLCapSvc.exe generates an error and shuts itself down. After a couple days of messing around with it, I ended up doing a reformat/clean install of Windows and everything worked fine. As soon as I installed Kaspersky AV the problem started again. So there is obviously a conflict between Kaspersky and Catalyst Media Center. I tried adding CMC to the scan exclusion scope, but still no luck. I do not know what else to try. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Quick post as the company I run is still in the throes of publishing our journal and writing grants; I found out that despite the completion of the install after a lot of work to get around UAC and other problems I encountered with the driver download on ATi's website, the *.149 drivers did not actually install properly in Vista RC2 64-bit as I thought. I manully played around with the .inf file through device manager and got it to install. Now my stuttering is virtually gone. If I encounter stuttering, I need to only rotate my antenna to one of two angles dependent on the channel, as it seems like all my HD channels come from either a 5 o'clock or 6 o'clock position roughly. Will go into detail after this week of craziness is over. Bright side is that I should have my new Samsung 24" to watch the HD on this week.

I have a lots of questions about ATI 550 / 650. I have now AIW 9800PRO BBA and SAPPHIRE X1600XT on my P4 pc. I would like to know if the 550 / 650 accept the PAL-M system (this is Brazil tv format, and is more like ntsc than PAL EUROPE, is 60Hz). My 9800pro accept all world system. The general quality of 550 / 650 is very much better than my aiw 9800pro (ATI 200). Can i use ATI MMC with 550 THEATER? Thank´s...

I live in pakistan and my sister lives in united states. I want to build mce machine for myself but there are no hardware mpeg cards available for Pal. Kindly advise me whether ati 650 card shall work in Pakistan PAL (b/g). I have read all the messages in this thread and bill T has suggested that it won't work in PAL region. But on product page of 650, it is listed as it works from "australia to zimbabwe". Also at all the site it is listed as PAL/NTSC compliant. If this is not an option then somebody please tell me which MCE Compliant Tv tuner to buy which shall work in Pakistan. Also can you please give me the direct link to "free remote" webpage so that I can order mine after my sister has purchased this card for me in america. Thanks

@forgz - No, there is not an internal connection to go to your sound card. The 8 pin connector is for the AV inputs. It is meant for OEM's to use to put the inputs on the front panel to replace the purple input cable. mbDarkBlue - I have not heard of this before. I will mention in to some people around here, and see if we can see any issues with Kaspersky AV and CMC. mglima_brazil and hussain - There is no Pal support for the TV Wonder 550 or 650. There may be in the future, but there has been nothing officially set for that. And I'm not sure which versions of Pal will be supported. Octavean - I do miss some of your questions, but sometimes that's on purpose For example: Is CMC is PowerCinema 4 with a makeover? CMC is ATI's software, so I'll continue ignoring that question. Hope that's clear enough.I will let you know about the HDTV Wonder and the TV Wonder 650 in MCE 2k5 hopefully tomorrow. I have been having difficulty getting a hold of the proper infomation on that. And for the erroroneos error message in MCE, I have passed it on, but I don't believe it has been fixed yet. - Bill - ATI Technologies Inc. -
