ATI TV Wonder 650 pci

i just picked this card up earlier tonight and have had nothing but trouble in installing it and getting it to run

1. could not install with the included cd, kept getting an error 1628: failed to complete installation
2. copied the CMC folder from the cd to the hard drive and tried to install it from there...successfull install
3. when scanning for HD channels, only 2-3 actually show up in the preview pane
4. the first install had jerky video and froze when i changed channels
5. i uninstalled and re-installed all ATI software several times,even tried the visual c patch
6. i only get 1 or 2 HD channels and the CMC always crashes


i have more than enough of computer to run this, my 550 pro card was awesome and easy to install and run


i will be calling ATI tech support in the morning, depending on that outcome will depend on if i keep this card......if by chance, i can't get it to work after tech support...i give this card a big fat F-

a person should not have to go through this to get a tuner to work on a relatively high end computer

You are correct. With all the hype that went on for months on this card, you should not be having these kind of problems. I don't know what ATI support will do, since I heard they are horrible. Going to hold off buying this...seems like too many people are reporting problems with this new card. Good luck with ATI.

Hi ArsenalSam,

I am curious about the your HD signal. What kind of antenna are you using? Is it powered? Also, where are you located? That can greatly effect how many HD channels you are getting. Thanks.

got it at best buy

i am using an amplified RCA ANT525, it states that it is HDTV compatible....the one channel that comes in the best is OPB in HD....

this morning i went a step further and wiped the hard drives and did a fresh install of windows....this time, no channels found...nothing at all

i heard about long wait times when calling support, i don't have time today, because of work....

i am located roughly 10-11 miles south of downtown portland, oregon


OPB looks pretty freekin awesome on my 19 inch widescreen lcd (1440x900).....

in regards to the analog signal, my 550 seems better....
