TV Wonder 650 Compsite-In Lag?
Hi,
Just got the TV Wonder 650 Pro recently and I just got around to testing it. I have a PS2 hooked up to the composite dongle and it works and everything, but there is time lag of 1-2 seconds for the video and audio to show up on my monitor. This is pretty annoying b/c its makes it impossible to play games. Anyone else have this problem or have any solutions to this?? I have the most recent drivers and have used CMC as well as other programs, its the same all around. My specs are: Core 2 Duo E6600 Asus P5W DH Deluxe 2gb (2 x 1gb) OCZ PC6400 Platinum Ram 74 gb Raptor MSI NVidia 256mb (VT2D256E-HD) |

Hi,
Try using a third party capture program like VirtualDub. Hope that helps. (Catalyst Media Center sucks for console capture) On a side note; you have the system i'm looking to build sometime soon. Right now I'm using a AMD 4000+ with 2GB of DDR 3200. How does she run? |

Heya,
runs really well, but not as great as I would have expected. The p5wdh has a lotta problems, most of them arise if you want to overclock tho (check this: xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=110193) . Hopefully Asus will fix them soon with further bios releases. And for some reason my ram appears as PC4300 instead of PC6400...I'm still looking into fixing it. Unless you like the unique features on the p5wdh, like the ezraid and the nice expansion slot layout, I would say go for a p5bdh deluxe, its a lot more stable and cheaper. And they are a lot easier to get, the p5w's seem to be out of stock all the time. This is my full spec: Lian-li v1100B Plus II Chasis Core 2 Duo E6600 Asus P5W DH Deluxe 2gb (2 x 1gb) OCZ PC6400 Platinum Ram MSI NVidia 256mb (VT2D256E-HD) Sound blaster X-fi platinum Ultra x-finity 500w psu Thermalright Ultra 120 CPU Heatsink 74 gb Raptor 320gb seagate 2 x 500gb seagates in Raid 0 Nec 4570a dvd-rw benq 1655 dvd-rw Mitsumi floppy + card reader combo (forgot the model #) But anyways, regarding dscaler, I'll give it a try and post how it turns out soon. Thanks ![]() |

Yea...I tried DScaler, but the program keeps crashing on me. I am new to this program so I don't really know what i'm doing. I installed it and ran it; then I tried to define the source to the Ati Tv Stream in the file menu, but it always crashes when I do that. Maybe I'm missing somethiing?

What software is being used to look at the analog in from the TV Wonder 650?
I have tried using ATI MMC (the "TV" application--version 7.9 because older versions didn't work as well for me with the 550 that my 650 replaced) and Roxio "Media Import" (came with Easy Media Creator). The MMC TV app fails to start and the Media Import app gives an error when I try to select the ATI AVStream Analog Capture input from the drop-down box. So since I upgraded to the 650, I've lost analog-in capability and can no longer get text transcriptions of programming closed captions (using the MMC TV app's "Write TV Magazine" function). ![]() All the best, Robert K S |

I seem to recall reading that Catalyst Media Center had the option to disable any TV-on-Demand AKA Timeshifting features.
Theoretically, doing so should yield real-time input-output and thus eliminate the lag. |

For analog tv, I just use catalyst b/c I don't mind watching tv if its lagging; as long as the video and audio is synced I'm fine. But for playing games that a different story.
I have been using virtual dub recently for composit-in. Its a gamble though, sometims its perfect and sometimes it freezes every few seconds (video skips every few seconds). I'm at home right now, but when I get back to the dorm, I'm gonna give that Tv-on-demand option a try. |

If Catalyst is too slow for you, I would try setting up a filter graph in GraphEdit and hitting "Play." Your input will show up on the ActiveMovie window. You'll get the minimum delay possible with your card. If it's still too slow for you, time to forget about playing video games through your computer's TV card.

Robert K S, i used to have a tv card in my old computer which was from 2003, and it worked fine, its just that this card is acting weirdly, and I don't understand why. Does anyone else have this problem? |

See this it be help on setup the video input see 13.
http://www.shspvr.com/graph_build/realtime_perview.html All you need to do is fine 1. Under “WDM Streaming Capture Devices” insert the following a) ATI Capture. 2. Under “WDM Streaming Crossbar Devices” insert the following a) ATI Xbar. Draw a line Pining the Decoder to the Input on both Audio and Video Rigth click on ATI Pervierw on both audio and Video pin and chosee Render Pin |

Thanks SHSPVR, that works pretty well! It still becomes a bit choppy whne I make the screen bigger or make it full screen, but i guess i'll deal with it. I don't seem to have a deinterlace filter also...weird.

I wanted to give ati a chance but I've had it w this ATI 650 card. The OTA HD was cool and worked fine w WINXP Media Center. But I went back to best buy and returned the card. The card is a complete piece of junk for capturing Svideo, composite signal. I subscribe to Directv and have a tivo and this card was pain in the @SS!! Ati software was buggy as heck, there was ghosting in the image when using svideo composite signal and there was a delay in the video!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I decided to pick up wintv-pvr 150 and again the software sucked as well!! Delay in video. Until I used DSCALER!! This software is AWESOME!! So many features and no delay in video and picture is finally acceptable!! FINALLY, I can watch tivo in peace!! |

I've tried using Dscaler with my 650, but it closes every time I select composite. What I'm doing is using Media Player Classic and using that to play the ps2. The image quality isn't that great, but it does play in real time. If you need any help setting up Media Player Classic for the real time image preview let me know.
