Theater 550 Pro + XFX 7300GS = Bad reception?
I am building a HTPC with these 2 cards and got everything working except that the reception from the TV card (MSI Theater 550 Pro) looks like bad satellite reception. The reception I have setup already is much better: Cable > VCR > S-Video > Receiver > S-Video > Projector. My understanding is the reception on this card is close to the best you can get, but I'm not experiencing that. I've tried the latest drivers on ATI's website as well as the drivers on the disc that came with the card and it still looks the same. Not sure if this is due to the video card or some other weird happening...any ideas?

Well, after some testing, I found that the picture degredation is due to the screen resolution. However, I would think that the video card could do a better job of displaying the picture on a higher resolution than the source video (352x240, or whatever TV is, to 1024x768), but maybe I'm wrong about that...

I'm haveing the same problem. The reception I get is real grainy like I am useing rabbit ears or something. Nothing like I see on the reviews of the 550 chip.
I think maybe the fiters aren't activated because when I change them in the ATI Tv Tuner control panel I see absolutely no difference. |
