Powercolor Tul Theater 550 PRO TV Tuner problem

Really sorry about the noobish post. To lazy to go sifting this early in the morning. I have a Powercolor Tul Theater 550 PRO TV Tuner, in a Gateway I bought a year ago. My fiance has some old VHS tape of her daughter. She asked if I could put them on DVD and I thought no problem. Hook up VCR, put in tape, open Windows Movie Maker, and done.
I hooked up the VCR/DVD combo through the Coax connection and got nothing but sound. No video even on the preview. Then I hooked it up through the S-Video connection. I hooked up the red, white and yellow forn the VCR/DVD to the red, white and yellow of the S-Video connector. There was still an S-Video cord dangling from the connector I actually plugged into the tuner. Is that necessary or is the yellow the Video? Same result just sound. I am fairly sure I have the correct driver as far as Gateway's site is concerned.
Any help would be appreciated and these forums have gotten me excited to see what else I can do with this card.

Side note- How is VCR and S-Video accepted words(as far as the forum spell check) but DVD isn't?
