Completed system pics, now with new sub :o

Hi all,

Thought I'd post a pic of my now finished-for-some-time-honest-no-really HD ready system The main point being the new sub, a BK Monolith (12" driver, just so you can get a scale as to how huge it is, 300watts, 95 litre cabinet, ~15hz in-room response )... This thing is absolutely nuts, you have to hear it to believe how deep it will go.. Anyway just thought you might like to see:

I've been very curious about those subs. I might be forced into buying smaller speakers to keep the missus happy (compromise struck to allow a bigger TV ) and I was thinking of supplementing them with a sub. Had been thinking of a baby REL or something similar but I'm intrigued by these BK's.

I'd have to go for the downward firing one right enough, as she'd slap me if I put the standard one anywhere on view !

If you want a smaller sub, get a BK XLS200, Gemini or Minotaur, no point paying twice as much for an REL/MJ Accoustics one that's essentially the same thing

I, on the other hand, can accomodate something huge. So I thought what the hell

Cheers, definitely worth considering, but I think I could just fit a Monolith DF behind the TV

I'm removing fairly hefty floorstanders so I think it'd have to be between the XLS and Monolith DF.

SWMBO will be the only problem

Bigblue... Only put it behind the TV if it's not a CRT, you'll destroy it with the size of the magnet on the sub's driver The sub itself is REALLY BIG though... Pictures don't do it justice, it's massive! That's a 12" driver and a 4" port

The TV is RP so no worries there, it's a fair bit away from the wall. The DF is a slightly different shape so it's high rather than wide so it'd just about fit Either that or a long cable and hide it behind the sofa, which might be preferable.

The port is quite scary though, hope you have no inquisitive pets !

Ouch, I was liking the idea of that as my next 'project'. I think I'll buy one of these instead. Equally as loud, just a bit more fun

Lol, for a home cinema? You don't have to spend nearly that much. There are some bargains to be had second hand/richer sounds etc Go for it

A lickle idea:

Front speakers ...move closer to you...

Bass box....put in the corner, port firing into the corner of the room

Try it, and move the bass box in and out of the corner to tighten the sound.

Bet you can hear the difference L(

Zakky... You don't realise how big this sub is There's no where else to put it. There's no way of fitting it into any of the corners.

As for the speakers, again there isn't a terrible amount of room to maneuvure, being a bedroom and all. They're pretty light on bass when away from a wall anyway. Filling the stands with sand helped tighten things up a little.

I don't use the sub for music much anyway

The fact it is in a bedroom is even funnier
