    I aint seen ANY LOTR yet, just ordered "Fellowship of the ring" 4disc edition... should arrive wednesday/thursday... but as for Return of the jedi... I'll wait for the DVD ...

    however its appeal is much more widespread. lots of people, including myself, find lotr boring, dull, longwinded and repetitive whereas nearly everyone finds pirates of the carribean entertaining

    A bit like Westlife winning record of the year for Mingey or was it Mangy? Widespread appeal and winning a public vote ain't always (ever?) a measure of quality.

    P of the C was a v good and entertaining film but it's not in the same league as lotr or, come to think of it, Kill Bill.

    pirates was a good film, i thought it would be lame, but it was pretty damn good - i havnt really seen that many films this year, so thats prob my top one
