    Goodmans GDB 400 DVD problems.

I had a Goodmans GDB 400 DVD model for christmas. The freeview on it rocks, gets a better picture than the BlueYonder cable downstairs (with more uptime as well! )

However, DVD playing is ****e. Completely and utterly. Every now and then (even using a brand spanking new DVD) it hangs. The only way to escape this is by pressing the power button to reboot the unit.

It happens randomly, mainly after been used for about 50mins (counter on front display), the unit itself is in a well wentelated location. But, without any grills in the side of it, well, it doesnt disapate the heat. Holding the flap for the dvd drive open adds a few mins play time to the dvd. But, not a lot.

Is it a design flaw, or is the unit ive got cream crackered?

The only thing I can see causing this is heat, the unit gets pretty hot, whilst playing a DVD or Watching freeview. The manual says it can operate upto 40^C. Its currently a comfortable 21.3^C in my room in the general location of the box.

Has anybody got any ideas why my new box hangs?

    Thanks,
    THCi.

50 mins in?? sounds like its changing layers. try fastforwarding to 49 mins and starting again when its cold. either than or just leave it for a couple of mins and come back. sounds like a warentee job either way thou - delay should only be a second or 2

I had considered that, but it happened today at 0:2:31, after playing till about 40 mins.

I think its a warantee job as well, but I would prefer a non-combi unit. So, freeview and DVD seperate.
