Childs play 1 isn't produced in R2 for some reason or another. So like 5lab said a R1 copy's your best bet. You can however get it on R4 which I believe also works on R2 machines. Just in case someone wants it and havn't got a multiregion drive

Cat Woman, your av gives me nightmares!

I've watched the childs play films quite recently, and TBH you're not missing that much not having the first film.. This series recieved a bad rep after being blamed for the killing of James Bulger, in a conversation for anotehr thread and time, but the truth is that only 3 and 4 are any good at all...

If you're looking for good horror, see if you can get hold of an HBO series called 'Carnivale'. Best thing I've watched in ages!

Why do region 4 discs play on region 2 machines?

Surely if you want to stop dvd pirating then 5 unique regions would mean that you wouldn't be able to play any region disc on a region machine that didn't match it's own region

I believe you can still pick up Childs Play on tape at HMV. You may have to special order it though. Quite surprising that it hasn't been released on DVD.

As for it being banned it wasn't, loads of vid stores removed their copys from the shelves out of respect and what the papers made of it but the store I was working in at the time didn't. Also with the events round the movie it was actually events in Childs Play 3 that there was reference not the first one.

Looking on the HMV website it was available on DVD for 19.99 in 2000 but its showing as deleted unfortunately. Its also showing as deleted on tape so scratch the previous comment.

Be worthwhile probably going to a car boot sale of just have a shop about and you may be able to lay hands on it.
