Anyone upgraded from Sky to sky +?
Hey guys,
After reading that its now free for sky + I was thinking maybe its time to upgrade form the standard sky digital to sky +. Gave sky a call and they said its 99 quid for the box and then 60 quid installation. Now I might be getting the wrong end of the stick here but surelly its just a matter of unplugging the old box and plugging in the new box or is there more to it? |

I thought that Sky+ was £10 unless you also subscribe to Movies or Sports package then its free. Just had a quick look on the Sky website and can't seem to see anywhere it says that its free.

As of July 1st sky will drop the £10 Sky+ charge for everyone. Currently u need the Sky World package to get the £10 knocked off but at the end of the month Sky+ is essenitally a free service
As for simply a new box this is not the case, u need at least a dual LND on ur dish and two wires running from the dish to the sky+ box as it has two tuners. Sky will fit a 'linked' single wire which is two thinner wires 'stuck' together like a headphone cord. Hope that info helps |

Not quite as simple as that. The engineer has to run 2 lines in from the dish, this enables you to watch one channel while recording another.
I was looking into it last year and not happy about the price and installation fee for Sky+. I've decided that when my Sky contract is up I am going for BT Vision. With BT Vision you get a box with hard disc built in and it is free, you have to pay for installation but I am going to see if they will allow me to set it up myself. |

ah so there is a reason for the 60 quid charge
![]() They said they`d waive the installation fee if I got multiroom but I dont really need an extra box somewhere else in the house |

u could always put ur old box in another room, then in 6 months time if u dont need it, cancel it, same cost
![]() btw, the website is crap for info and current prices, always ring them, u get much better offers. I heard the rumour about the £10 sky+ charge being dropped weeks ago, received the comfirmation letter from sky yesterday

There are a few deals around at the moment for SkyHD at £150 (includes Sky+, has more storage and has Anytime).
Might be a better option. |

Do what I did for my parents:
1. Ring Sky 2. Ask for "cancellations department" 3. Tell them you want to cancel 4. They ask "why?" 5. Either say "cos i'm not using it" or "in a cable area better deal V+ box blah blah" 6. They'll then tell you of the Sky+ offer & offer you a Sky+ box WITH installation for 49quid. This is a very good deal. 7. Pat DAngel on the back ![]() Only cancellations can offer you the Sky+ with no subscription fee at the moment - this will change next month. SkyHD still attracts a subscription fee, costs loads more and er.. there's bugger all on it yet ![]() I'm paying 15quid (the lowest package) with my Sky+ box _now_ because of this.

hmm, tempted to try this - how should I proceed if they *dont* make the offer though!
