Ok guys i think i have finally chosen my Audio Visual System.
    1. Sony KDL 32D3000
    2. Onkyo TX-605
    3. Playstation 3 (Blu-ray and dvd upscaling)
    4. Tannoy Mercury F1 Custom 5.1
    http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/3322

Now could someone please tell me what all cables im going to need? Ive heard QED are good.

Also if you can think of any good alternatives to what ive choosen above please let me know.

I hate being a newb at this whole av scene. If it was computer hardware i would have no problem.

An HDMI cable of correct length, and an optical cable of correct length by the looks of it Ebay will do you, shouldn't cost a lot

Oh and some reasonably thick speaker cable, use mains cable if you like Bottom line is don't get sucked in by the whole expensive / cable quality lark

What kind of speaker cables will i need? Im assuming you willg et cables with the speakers but are they good enough or should i buy my own? QED Anniversary -XT i think is good but quite expensive when you add it all up.

Depends what sort they come with? IMO it won't make any difference so don't waste your money on expensive QED stuff just yet

Can't argue with howard there. Cheap digital cables (HDMI and optical) could even be got from scan dirt cheap if you are making another order. As for speaker cable, that ebay stuff is the same as I got free with my onkyo 674 and does a very good job. Don't splash the cash on expensive cables, unless you think that AV equiptment doesn't obey the laws of physics!

Thanks very much guys. What Hi-Fi has me convinced i need to spend 10% overall on cables!!!

Any ideas on the speakers? Above there is the Tannoy Mercury Custom 5.1 but for an extra £10 i can get the Tannoy Sensys 5.1 AV package http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/2557.

What one is the best? I have £730 max to spend on speakers. Are these two the best choices i have or is there better ones i have overlooked?

Choosing all this stuff is so bloody hard!! lol

I got some mordaunt short premiere plus's for £200 second hand from av forums. Might be worth a look over there.

Otherwise it really is best to listen if you can. Auditioning means that you can get what sounds best to you. KEF 2005's are always highly recommended though.

It can be a struggle to get a reply there sometimes and then you get replies telling you to audition but for background reading and to see what is popular and/or good it is worthwhile. There is also a bloke on there who sells canton speakers for a good price- worth considering.

I'd still try and audition the Acoustic Energy Aegis EVO3 series speakers if you haven't already bought the Tannoys (which are also excellent). I found them to be a tad livelier than the Tannoys.

Cables are easy, just get a decent chunky set with a total cross section area of about 4mm. I use QED biwires in my setup. http://www.hificonfidential.co.uk/de...Mirco%20Biwire

The cheaper alternative is solid core mains cable Don't worry about any skin effect you may read about, that only happens at microwave frequencies !
