Need at sub £300 20"+ HDMI TV!
Hi guys,
first time i've ventured into this neck of the Hexus woods! I'm gonna be moving away from home Monday to Friday, and need a TV to take with me...but have a few requirements! Less than £300. Light enough to mount on an internal stud wall (up to 10kg) Bigger than 20" and as i've just got a PS3 I'm thinking it should have an HDMI socket to allow me to play it in HD (I stand to be corrected on that one though!) I've found the the LG 22LS4R for £240 delivered at digitaldirectuk.com... Is that cheap? good enough for what I want? anything better? Suggestions please! Its gonna be bad enough leaving my wife mid week without having to look at a cr@ppy 14" portable! cheers folks Andy ~ kaillum |

I'm going to ignore your 10KG requirement completely (well, except for mentioning it just then) and link you to this 32" 720P/1080i LCD HDTV, weighing in at 21.8KG, and a penny sweet under £300.
They'll bundle in this £80 stand for just £35 if you buy them at the same time. But if you're 100% set on wall mounting... I'm sorry to have wasted your time. ![]() Don't forget Hexus also has Bargains and Find Me A Bargain subforums.

The contrast ratio on that TV is only 750:1m which is poor imo. 1000:1 is the lowest I would consider. But then again £300 is a tight budget when it come to 32" TVs.
I bought my glass TV stand for £27 from eBay and collected it!! It was mint condition and a very good quality one. There are some bargains to be had for those on eBay as they're all collection only! Just filter by distance from your address. This has a better spec for just £275. Its 27" http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...0&tid=l27w551t EDIT: This looks like the job for you - its in your price range. 1200:1 contrast ratio, 2x HDMI. Its the better, v2 model of the tv penguinjim linked. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=623506 Last edited by s_kinton; 20-07-2007 at 02:52 PM. |

thanks for the reply guys..
This is gonna be a dual purpose TV.. i'm taking it away with me for 6 months in a flat, then its going on the bedroom wall of the house (internal stud wall) so the weight really is the deciding factor.. Would love a 32" and although Hannspree at Scan is d@mn tempting, but weighing in at 21kg's its a bit heavy for the wall.. so its a toss up between the LG 22LS4R 22" and the AOC 27".. The LG says its a contast ratio of 3000:1 (Dynamic Contrast) opposed to the AOC at 1000:1 is this better? would it make any real difference? and I cant find anything on the weight of the AOC.. whereas the LG is only 5.8kg's.. which would your money be on??? and Thanks ikonia.. Real helpful reply there..

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/conten...-32C3030DB.htm Ideally the new sony D3000 range is the best around at the minute but they arent bad but if you want something smaller then http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/conten...S-20W330DB.htm http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/conten...DL20S2030U.htm I have seent hat sony tv in a shop and i thought it looked pretty good. But i have no knowledge of the toshiba. I currently have the D3000 but its out of your price range. I think it all depends on what you want to use it for. They say with sony you just pay for the name but trust me that you dont. You pay for quality. You should try and spend about £350-400 if you can as the benifits you would get would be very noticable.

thanks for your help guys.. was looking around Currys and Comet today and saw the Samsung LE26R88BD which I really liked the look of.. Only thing was it was £499 in the shops...
had a scootch around online and Dixons have it in at £410 and with the google offer code meant it was £400 delivered to my door! Would have been rude not to really! So broke my first requirment really.. Hope this meets with ikonia's approval of not being the "crap end of the maket" ![]() but it meets the other 2.. 26" and only 9.2kgs! and 5000:1 contrast ratio (which I actually know what that means now! LOL) Last edited by kaillum; 22-07-2007 at 05:08 PM. |
