Surround Sound Advice Please!

Hi Guys, My First post here!

I have a Samsung LE32R87BDX and a Playstation 3 and am looking for a surround sound system which can upscale dvd's and is VERY easy to setup as im a bit of an idiot when it comes to things like perhaps HDMI is possible? Ps3 -> Surround Sound -> TV? I really have no clue about audio setups which is why I thought I would come and ask you guys

I have around £250 quid to spend in total so any views which you guys have would be awesome!

I don't think you will be able to get a AV surround sound system with HDMI in and out for that sort of price. You should be able to get a system with optical in/out and use the optical out on your PS3 to send the sound to the reciever/amplifier.

Take alook on Richer Sounds they will likely have something.

Like the comment above... your budget is very limmited... for HDMI and HD av box system...

Might have to wait for couple months where more HD system comming out...

IMO you'd be better just looking for an audio system rather than a "cinema in a box" type product. Sony sell a range of them, and they DO incorporate HDMI. They're designed to be added to an existing DVD player, which would be your PS3! It upscales DVD's exceptionally well, and indeed it's highly rated all round as a player

I've linked to Play as it's the first site I though of, but it's worth checking all the usual sites if you decide to go for something like this. You might well find them a fair bit cheaper.

The PS3 will upscale (now) DVD's, connect this via HDMI to your telly. Connect the optical out to an av amp/speaker system. For £250 your choice is limited. If you are lucky you may be able to pick up a second hand system. many nutters have lots of surround stuff taking up space in the garage (I took two amps to the tip last year) and would be happy for a few quid. Otherwise go to richer sounds and buy an amp speaker system. £350 should buy you a fairly good system eg onkyo/denon plus £100 on speakers but £250 is more difficult. Try pricerunner for the best prices. As an alternative you may find active speakers designed for PC use will fit the bill (try scan.co.uk)
