    I've never been impressed with the quality of Sony All-in-one setups, but that's not a bad price

    That's a great price. It's just a shame that Sony's speakers are always absolutely dire.

    sony iirc won the best of 2003 award from what hifi for their 500 kit (all-in-one setup). dunno if this is better or worse

    Looked at a few sony set-ups in the past and they've been decent enough by my standards, and with the size of my room i don't need anything huge anyway

    I have a Sony HTK-170 setup that I use for my PC of all things, and I find that the sound output from it, for my needs, is exactly what I want..

    Never been a fan of 5.1 set ups, they all sound really cheap. The satellites arent really capable of providing a powerful level of volume without distortion. I prefer stack system set ups with decent speakers ie AE, that way everything can connect to one another, providing u have all the right leads
