    Das Boot

    Watched some last night.

    Compelling film....well dubbed......apparently 3 hours long.

    More tonight.

    Anyone else seen it?

    Seen it? I worship it.

    And the music...ooooh the music

God I love that convoy attack, (even though they are attacking the Brits )

BTW Zakk I actually prefer to turn off the English voices and watch it in German with subtitles, far more authentic and as I remember it when I was 'ickle.

I thought about that mate.......but its quite well dubbed (well I think it is).

Best thing is: I knew NOTHING about it at all.....Sair has had it on her shelf since I've known her....and am I pleased or WHAT?

Torpedos ...I never knew they were SO DAMN BIG

Anyway....back to the film....its quite intriguing, and I'm only just into it.

I remember reading in the papers about a bloke who remade all 3 hours of Das Boot in using his garden shed as the set and just one camera.

You think he had to much time on his hands?

    lol

    Actually it doesn't suprise me

Zakk - just remember its a true story

The ginger chap with the floppy hair (the War correspondant) was Lothar Gunther Buchheim, and he wrote about his account aboard a German U-Boat U96, this was later made into the novel, Das Boot.

My dad has a book with actual photos taken by Bucheim during a depth charge attack, everything is blurred due to the violent impact, but you can make out Captain Willenbrock holding onto the periscope shaft, incredible stuff.

I can't say enough about the film, its an absolute masterpiece,

    Just enjoy it

I remember it from when I was 'ickle too! I remember being totally blown away by it even then. Not see it for AGES so thoroughly looking forward to watching it now

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

(TiG, how dare you make such a remark!!??!!! You'll be shot down in flames... quite lierally probably if Zak sorts out his IL2 gameplay!)

You have more chance using Lara Croft to shoot TiG down over The Crimean Scenario than me in my Yak9
