But Sky is better than Freeview on many channels too I've seen this argument played out many a time on AV sites, and when all the stats are listed, it's about equal. Or certainly were last time I could be bothered reading one of those threads ! Compression may vary, but I've several sets and boxes, and I see little enough difference between them to worry about it.

I guess I'm lucky that the majority of the stuff I like is now available in HD. Golf, footy, movies, documentaries, even the crappy series I watch. Despite being a self confessed AV geek, I can't really be bothered looking into improving SD performance ay more, as it usually all seems much of a muchness after watching a bit of HD.

I'll maybe buy PlayTV (and a bigger PS3 HDD!) when it becomes available though.
