Video codecs/formats with chapter marks Are there any codecs/file formats which have DVD-style chapter marks? In particular, I'm looking for something that will play on Vista Media Centre but finding one that works at all would be nice.

Re: Video codecs/formats with chapter marks MKV. Matroska container for video ... Its just a container format and supports chapter marks. Preferred internal video format would be x264. All Hail the AACS : 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0

Re: Video codecs/formats with chapter marks Yup matroska can do it. Megui with x264 has worked very well for me. I was able to extract chapters from DVDs and put them into a mkv

Re: Video codecs/formats with chapter marks You are probably right... Well the real definition is: "x264 is a free software library for encoding H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video streams." So its technically not a "format" which is what you said (but no one said anything about codecs!). x246 is just a way of making h.264 video streams (or technically MPEG-4 part 10 video streams) ![]() But its no big deal, you can be "technically" wrong and everyone will still understand you... so it doesn't really matter

Re: Video codecs/formats with chapter marks I got a full Vista codec pack from Guru3D and it works great for me. Not sure if it will do exactly what you are wanting but is definately handy to have. Vista Codec Package 4.5.6 Final download from Guru3D.com
